Cleveland – Even in these challenging economic times, The Lincoln Electric Company continues to have an eye on its future as it begins its 2009 Sales Training Program. The Company hires between 10-15 graduate engineers each year from the top engineering schools in the nation to participate in its industry-renowned training program. During this program, these young men and women learn how to weld, get indoctrinated with the Lincoln culture and learn how to apply the Company’s products.
The current class consists of graduates from Purdue, Michigan Sate, the University of Akron, Case Western Reserve University, California State Polytechnic University, William Woods University and Bucknell.
“We are always looking for graduates with a desire to join a dedicated team of individuals and the willingness to grow in an exciting and innovative environment to advance the Company and their careers,” stated Mike Mintun, Vice President of Sales-North America. “After completing their training program, the graduates will be assigned to one of our sales offices to support our distributors and end user customers.”
Part of the training program includes a weekend orientation for the families of the new engineers and sales trainees to learn more about Lincoln Electric and its unique program. The weekend consists of a briefing and presentations by Lincoln management, a plant tour and social events.
A good portion of this year’s training program will focus on 108 new products that Lincoln has just launched to help customers lower costs and drive productivity.
At the end of the program, all trainees have to pass a final exam, which consists of presenting a guaranteed cost reduction (GCR) proposal to Lincoln’s top management, including its Chairman and CEO.
