Scott Dixon Claims Lincoln Electric’s Hard Charger Award at Indy 500

Cleveland – Scott Dixon, a driver with Target Chip Ganassi Racing, claimed Lincoln Electric’s Hard Charger Award at this year’s Indianapolis 500. The award is given to the car that starts the furthest back in the field and leads at least one green lap at some point during the race. The Hard Charger award included a $10,000 cash prize. The Indianapolis 500 was held on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Along with the Hard Charger Award commitment, each year Lincoln Electric also serves as the Indy Racing League (IRL) “Official Welder” for all teams competing in the Indianapolis 500. For one month prior to the race, Lincoln personnel provide free on-site welding services and trackside assistance to all of the teams in the track’s designated welding garage operated by Lincoln distributor Indiana Oxygen and Lincoln Electric.
